R13 are pleased to be supporting a well-known Norfolk business in their search for a Transport & Planning Manager. The purpose of this role is the management of the business’ fleet of vehicles, ensuring contracts are effectively managed, alongside the development of driver training programmes and supporting the business’ overall growth plans through effective communication and delivery.

The ideal candidate will have experience in managing a transport team and individuals and demonstrate their ability to proactively manage change through continuous improvements, in an FMCG environment.

Duties to include:

  • Ensuring in-house distribution operations operate in compliance with all regulations and operating licences.
  • Developing the driver network including manning levels and driver training.
  • Leading a team of colleagues, upskilling and training where necessary.
  • Ensuring delivery schedules are adhered to and effective communication is maintained between teams & customers.
  • Optimising the vehicle fleet in line with business growth plans.
  • Developing and optimising the route planning function across the network.
  • Effectively liaising with depot managers and the central planning team.
  • Cost reporting and analysis of cost improvement areas.

You will have/be:

  • Previous transport management experience.
  • A CPC license is highly desirable.
  • Experience leading a transport team.
  • Proven working knowledge of route planning and ERP software.
  • Exposure of working in a fast-paced FMCG environment.
  • Knowledge of vehicle compliance legislation and fleet maintenance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Excellent people management skills.
  • Proficient in IT, particularly Microsoft Office - Outlook and Excel.
  • A good use of intuition and problem solving skills for productive outcomes.
  • The proven ability to maintain high standards of decision making in a fast-paced changeable environment.

This is a full-time, permanent role working Monday – Friday. The offered salary for this position is up to £60,000 dependant on experience.
